It has been more than a year since the candidates applied for various posts of RRC Group D and RRB NTPC in Railways. The applications for these two recruitments are more than 2 crore, but even after a year has passed, the applicants are waiting for the RRB NTPC Exams and admit card. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has finally replied to a Parliament Question on 04 March 2020, Wednesday.

RRB NTPC Exam Status: Question Asked In Parliament
Indian Member Of Parliament Shri Hanuman Beniwal asked some questions regarding RRB NTPC & RRC Group D Status in the parliament. The questions are as follows:
Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
- Whether the Government is aware that examination for the Group-D posts in Railways are getting delayed;
- If so, the details thereof and by when the said examination will be conducted; and
- The number of applications received by the railways for Group-D posts?
RRB NTPC & RRC Group D Status Railway Minister Reply To Parliament Question
In a written reply to MP Hanuman Beniwal, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said:
There is no undue delay in recruitment for Group-D posts (now, Level1) in the Railways. Two recruitment notifications for Level-1 were issued-one in February 2018 for around 63,000 vacancies and second one in March 2019 for around 1.03 lakh vacancies.
Around 1.89 crore applications were received for the first notification, CEN 02/2018. After scrutiny of applications, conduct of written examination(Computer Based Test, CBT) for eligible candidates, generation of Zonal Railway-wise merit lists, Physical Efficiency Test, Document Verification & Medical Examination, around 56,000 candidates have already been selected for appointment as on 13.02.2020.
For the second notification (CEN RRC-01/2019), around 1.15 crore applications have been received whose scrutiny is complete. Scheduling of written examination (CBT) under this notification is under process.
RRB NTPC & RRC Group D Recruitment 2020
In fact, last year the Railways had released the notifications for recruitment on various posts for millions of unemployed youth. Which included other recruitments including RRB NTPC, RRB Group D and RRC Group D.
While thhe 63,000 recruitments mentioned by the Minister in the Lok Sabha are being conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) in March 2019, 1.03 lakh vacancies are being handled by the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC).
1 crore 15 lakh applications have been received for recruitment of more than 1 lakh posts of RRC Group D, about 1.89 crore applications for 63,000 vacancies in February 2018 and more than 1 crore 26 lakh applications for 35,208 posts of RRB NTPC.
